Steak with Chimichurri Sauce

Steak with an Argentinian spicy Chimichurri sauce served with fried potatoes and green beans.


  • 4 large baking potatoes (approx 470g each), cut into 1 cm cubes
  • 200g of fine trimmed green beans
  • 1 medium onion (approx 185g), finely chopped
  • 800g of beef sirloin steaks
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp crushed chillies

  1. Preheat the grill to high. To make the chimichurri sauce, mix 4 tbsp olive oil with the vinegar, onion, garlic, parsley, oregano and crushed chillies. Set aside.
  2. Season the steaks with salt and pepper. Place the steaks on a baking tray and grill for 8-10 minutes, or until cooked to your liking.
  3. Whilst the steak is cooking, heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a frying pan and fry the potatoes over a high heat until they begin to brown. Turn down the heat and cook, stirring, for 8-10 minutes, or until cooked through and crispy. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. When the steak and fried potatoes are almost ready, cook the green beans in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, or until tender.
  5. Spoon the chimichurri sauce over the steaks and serve with the green beans and fried potatoes.
