Steak Burrito

Spicy marinated beef strips fried with onion and red pepper and wrapped in flour tortillas.


  • 1 small onion (approx 110g), sliced
  • 1 medium red pepper (155g), sliced
  • 6 plain flour tortilla wraps
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 200g of salsa dip
  • 225g beef rump steak, fat trimmed, cut into strips
  • 200ml of soured cream
  • 3 tbsp smooth salsa sauce
  • 2 tsp white wine vinegar
  • pinch of crushed chillies
  • 2 tsp tomato puree
  • 1 tsp mild chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  1. To make the marinade, mix together the lime juice, tomato puree, chilli powder, crushed chillies and vinegar in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Coat the steak strips in the marinade and leave to absorb the flavour.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion for 3-4 minutes, or until soft. Add the steak strips with the remaining marinade and fry for 2 minutes. Add the red pepper and cook over a high heat for 4-5 minutes, or until the beef is cooked and sizzling hot. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Warm the tortillas according to the packet instructions. Divide the steak mixture between the tortillas and top each with a little soured cream and salsa sauce. Roll the tortillas around the filling and serve.

Cook's tips

Marinade the beef for 1 hour before cooking to allow it to absorbs all the flavours.
