Peppered Steak Stir-fry

A quick and easy to prepare stir-fry with succulent marinated steak strips and green pepper.


  • 450g of beef rump steak, fat trimmed off and meat cut into thin strips
  • 1 large red onion (approx 210g), finely sliced
  • 2 medium green peppers (155g each), finely sliced
  • 240g of basmati rice
  • 120ml of light soy sauce (8 tbsp)
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp brown demerara sugar

  1. Mix the soy sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic, black pepper and steak in a bowl, then set aside.
  2. Cook the rice according to the packet instructions.
  3. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large wok or frying pan and stir-fry the onion, pepper and garlic for 2-3 minutes. Add the steak strips with the remaining marinade and continue to stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until the beef is cooked to your liking.
  4. Mix 2 tbsp cold water with the cornflour, then stir into the peppered beef stir-fry and simmer for 1 minute to thicken the sauce.
  5. To serve, simply spoon the peppered steak over the cooked rice.
