Paella

This is a simple variation of the popular Spanish dish with chicken, ham and red pepper.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 slices of ham, chopped
  • 1/2 pack of Batchelors Golden Savoury Rice
  • 1/3 small red pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 value skinless chicken breast fillet, cut into 2cm pieces
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, finely chopped

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the chicken for 3-4 minutes, or until lightly browned. Add the onion, pepper and garlic and and cook for 2-3 minutes. Stir in the rice and water (according to the packet instructions) and cook for 15 minutes, or until the rice is cooked. Top up with a little extra stock if necessary.
  2. Stir in the ham, season to taste with salt and pepper and serve.
